Disability Studies Graduate Programs Theses Awards were granted by Bogazici University Social Policy Forum and Research Worldwide Istanbul, with the support of Lund University Raoul Wallenberg Institute. This year, 2 master’s degree level thesis which are written in social sciences departments were selected.
On the Human Rights Day 10 December, a ceremony organized in which Ahmet Nedim Gündoğar, who got his master’s degree from Hasan Kalyoncu University Special Education in Master of Arts program, entitled to master level thesis award with his thesis ‘Opinions About the Instructional Adaptations Regarding the Visually Impaired Students Who Continue Higher Education and Osman Yılmaz, who got his master’s degree from Istanbul University Psychology in Master of Arts program, entitled to master level thesis award with his thesis ‘Identity constructions of deaf adults’.
Bogazici University Social Policy Forum and Research Worldwide Istanbul, with the support of Lund University Raoul Wallenberg Institute, announced this year’s winners of Disability Studies Master’s/Ph.D. Thesis Awards. This year, three master’s theses in Guidance and Psychological Counseling, Social Policy, and Social Work received the award.
The award ceremony was held on Human Rights Day. Anıl Gencelli with his thesis ‘An Analysis of Rehabilitation Policies in Turkey from the Perspective of Disability Rights Activists’, Ekin Dolu with her thesis ‘Care Policies and Practices for People with Disabilities in the European Union Countries and Turkey’, and Osman Yılmaz with his thesis ‘Disability Microaggressions toward Students in Inclusive Settings: The Perspective of School Counselors’ shared this year’s award.

The thesis award ceremony was organized on the Human Rights Day 10th December. Ph.D. level thesis award was granted to Beyza Ünal, who obtained her Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology from Middle East Technical University, with her thesis entitled ‘The Development of Disability Pride Through Challenging Internalized Idealist and Ableist Norms in Turkish Society: A Grounded Theory Study’. Balam Kenter, who took her master’s degree in Philosophy from Boğaziçi University, was granted the master’s level thesis award with her thesis entitled ‘Understanding Oppression and Exploitation Through Disability: Intersectionality, Surplus Populations, And Radical Needs’.
